Canberra

It's quite interesting that when Ant and I mentioned that we were going to Canberra for our Christmas hols we were often greeted by various expression of dumbfoundedness or incomprehension and many of them from Australians themselves. I suppose visiting Canberra to an Australian is like visiting Milton Keynes, to a Brit. It's a planned town yes, where before it was just vast empty terrains. It's also designed for the car as there aren't any walking paths and that's about it. Apart from Canberra being the capital of Australia of course (solves the dilemma of choosing between Sydney and Melbourne). However, to those who have looked down on the attraction of Canberra, there are actually quite a lot to see.
In addition to that, our dear friend Sonya and her family lives there. We decided that it would be nice to spend Christmas with a family. Since Ant and I came to a conclusion that we (just the two of us) do not qualify as a family... we are a couple but not a family. We'll only become a family if we have a child. hhhmmm... Therefore, we've decided to impose ourselves on Sonya's family :) and visiting old parliament house and the war memorial while we're there.

The old Parliament house is a must for those interested in politics, democracy and the development of human rights. It is indeed quite an eye opener. The War Memorial is a musem as well as a memorial to remember Australia's brave soldiers and their contribution on various wars around the world. It is a place where bravery and honour lives.
