Our trip Home to Brisbane

River view at Numbacca Heads

I've decided to put our 4 day trip home to Brisbane in a blog as it felt like a sprint back home and a whistlestop tour of the towns we stopped at. Having been to Sydney before, we stopped at Sydney with no sight seeing in mind but just to spend New Year's eve with Dan and Petrina. We had a lovely picnic on a hill while waiting for the fireworks to start. Then once it was done, we lit little sparklers of our own. Then it was a good old Aussie barbeque the next day before we hit the road for the Hunter Valley. We decided to do the tourist thing (although that would mean going a little out of the way ) and drive over the Sydney Harbour Bridge on our way out of Sydney on New Year's Day.

The Hunter Valley is famous for it's vineyards and it's most famous vineyard is Lindermans. After a night's stay we spend the whole of next day (2/1/2010) travelling around vineyards while tasting and buying their wines. We managed to also find a chocolate factory amidst all those vineyards. Hence both Ant and I were in seventh heaven :)

After leaving the Hunter Valley and 5 hours of driving along the Pacific Highway later, we arrived at Numbacca Heads, our next stop for the night. Our hotel was at a scenic spot by the river and the restaurant was famous for their Chinese menu. Therefore, it's easy to guess what we had for dinner that night.

In the morning of the 3rd of Janaury 2010 and after a quick drive around Numbucca Heads, we headed for Coffs Harbour and the Big Banana (one of Australia's big Icons). As it was also my birthday, we tried to make it back to Brisbane for dinner so we can go out for a meal in a fancy restaurant near ours. However, I'm proud to say even with the 5 hour drive looming ahead, we managed to take time to relax and soak up some sun on the beach and Anthony managed to take a dip in the ocean.

Thus, from the time we left on our Christmas driving holiday on the 19/12/2009 till the time we returned to Brisbane on the 3/1/2010, we had driven about 3000kms. We felt we had a great holiday, all in all a wonderful experience, and Anthony was ready to go back to work :)
