Wow!!! I'm on a roll!! This is my third blogpost today. I'm hoping that at the rate I'm going I'll be able to finish this Christmas trip blog project in one sitting :)
Like Coonabarabran, there are lots to see in Dubbo as well. It's bigger than most of the towns we've been stopping at or passing through. However, although we'd allocated 2 days there... we only managed to see the Zoo. We managed a THOROUGH visit of the zoo though ;)
Dubbo Zoo is designed in the style that hopes to promote a safari like atmosphere. Therefore, although the animals are contained, visitors don't really see the fences that are containing the animals. The grounds or paddocks for the animals are very vast. The 2 days we were at Dubbo Zoo were very sunny days with temperatures up to 37'C, especially on the second day. Therefore, we were glad that we were there at 6am in the morning on our second day at the zoo for the morning walk with the animals as we wouldn't have seen much of them later in the afternoon when the day is at it's hottest. Although, one can drive one's car around the zoo, the best way to travel around the Zoo is by bike. However, biking wasn't an option to us due to Anthony's knee and therefore, we did the next best but more tiring thing - we walked. Nevertheless, I think a lot of the other visitors thought us mad for walking under such scorching heat. At one point it did make me wonder who was the smarter mammal... us walking in the sun and taking photos or those who are relaxing in the shade getting their photos taken? hhhmmm...
